Collateralised fund obligations are being served up in certain areas of private equity as GPs and LPs look for liquidity. Although hardly new, CFOs are a fairly exotic cocktail and while they remain niche they are getting tongues wagging. There is no reason to believe that CFOs should be viewed with suspicion but if they start to grow in number in 2023 it might warrant closer inspection. Read the menu carefully before ordering.
